Since I was not able to find at the Intel 530 available at the local shops, I went ahead and bought the Samsung SSD 840 Pro 128Gb. Fired up a Lubuntu 13.10 from a memory stick and proceeded to the default benchmarking:
Three years later, my average read went up with 35Mb/s. Not much ? But at least this one might last 5 years.
Later Edit: I have also ran HD Tach 3.0.4.0 with WinXP compatibility, and the read values are below:
